Building a character in Chrome & Covenant means answering one question at every step: who is this person, and what are they willing to lose?
Step 1: Concept
Start with a concept, not numbers. A CRB operative haunted by a mission gone wrong. A Conduit who hears an AI voice they can’t identify. A street doc who installs cyberware in back-alley clinics and asks no questions. The concept drives everything that follows.
Step 2: Stats
Assign values to Mind, Body, and Soul. These are your foundation — everything else modifies them.
Step 3: Class and Path
Choose your class — your role in the world and how you interact with its systems. Each class opens paths that determine your specialization.
Step 4: Skills
Select skills — trained competencies that define what you’re good at. Skills are practical: what stat they use, what situations they apply to.
Step 5: Cyberware and Gear
Install cyberware if you want — but every piece costs Humanity. Equip yourself from the starter gear list. Choose your Coin type.
Step 6: Connections
Who do you know? Who do you owe? Connections to factions, NPCs, and other player characters create the web that makes Echoes personal.
Book Expansion: The Core Rulebook includes full character creation with all classes, subclasses, expanded skill lists, lifepath tables, and starting equipment packages by faction affiliation.
